A Brief Biography

The Early Years:

Joey McCann started singing professionally at the age of 16 back in 1976. After 35+ years and over 8,500 shows (and counting) He continues to perform an average of 300+ shows per year. A 1977 graduate from Patapsco Senior High and 1980 graduate of The Broadcasting Institute of Maryland, Joey studied news casting and has been featured in both radio and TV commercials, He also studied voice-over work. After 14,000+ performance with “Joey and the Jammers” continue to perform as a band and his Pro-Show Karaoke is flourishing. He has recorded 2 albums on C.D. and cassette and has 2 more in the planning stages.

Joey has performed with many musical stars over the years including Chuck Berry , Chubby Checker, The Platters, Coasters, Drifters, Del Vikings, Danny and the Juniors, The Belmonts, Lou Christie, Wayne Newton, Mamas and Papas, 3 Dog Night, Willie Nelson, Sha-Na-Na, Martha and the Vandellas, Leslie Gore, Ronnie Dove, Johnny Tillotson, Ray Peterson, Narvel Felts, Herman’s Hermits and dozens more. Joey has had the honor of performing at some of the most prestigious venues around including Orioles Park at Camden Yards, Merriweather Post Pavilion, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Center Stage Theatre, The Capitol Center, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Amphitheater, The Westminster Cathedral, The 1^ST Mariners Arena, The Maryland State Fair, Preakness Festivals and dozens of county, community and outdoor festivals .

Fundraisers & Civic Events

Joey and the Jammers have performed many charity fundraisers for dozens of worthy causes and He has been honored by the Maryland Legislature and many organizations for his dedication to the community. As a lead singer, bandleader, Solo act, D.J. Emcee or any combination thereof, He has an act for any venue small or large, over 1,043 Weddings alone in every kind of setting, from elegant tuxedo to backyard BBQ. He accepts engagements from top local agencies like Maryland Entertainment, but handles 95% of his bookings himself through repeat business and referrals from loyal relationships established over the years with his company Top Notch Talent. He owned and operated a restaurant and bar for 5 years where he showcased his band and held concerts for other entertainers before a brief stint at the Act Two Dinner Theatre and then 2 years as the house band at the Sheraton in Ocean City Maryland.

Joey’s Solo Show features Joey singing live with his state of the art digital stereo computerized system singing songs from yesterday until today. Joey McCann “The Music Man” is a hybrid combination of Joey singing live, hosting Karaoke for guests and a full Emcee, D.J. Show for any setting. Top Notch Talent also offers The Joey and Lorna Duo, a male and female duet show featuring world class female vocalist Lorna Terry and Joey McCann singing live. For events requiring a live band “ Joey and the Jammers” are available in a variety of configurations, starting with 4 guys (all lead singers who also teach lessons in voice and their respective instruments) all the way up to a 14 piece show band with female singers and a full horn section. All of the musicians in the Jammers read charts in order to back up national acts when they come to Baltimore for larger venue appearances.
